BOARD ASSEMBLY + PRODUCT INTEGRATION

What is box build assembly?

Box build assembly combines a populated printed circuit board with the mechanical parts, wiring and verification needed for an electronic product or subassembly. Depending on the design, it can include mounting the PCBA inside an enclosure, connecting cables and controls, loading firmware, testing the assembled unit and preparing it for shipment.

For OrinewPCB, the starting point is dependable one-stop PCBA: PCB fabrication, electronic component procurement, SMT and through-hole assembly, and inspection. Box build extends that coordinated project into enclosure integration and final assembly. The quotation identifies which parts we supply, which parts you supply, and exactly what constitutes a completed unit.

DEFINE THE DELIVERABLE

Box build services matched to your product

We can provide the following operations. The approved drawings, sourcing responsibilities and acceptance criteria define the scope of each order.

01

PCB fabrication & assembly

Coordinate bare boards, BOM procurement, SMT and through-hole assembly. Review board revision, component orientation, mounting holes and connector access before integration.

02

Enclosure sourcing & customization

Procure an approved housing or coordinate a custom enclosure to your drawings. Specify material, dimensions, cutouts, finish, tolerances, mounting hardware and cosmetic acceptance requirements.

03

Cables & wire harnesses

Assemble cables and harnesses to the approved pinout and drawing. Define connector part numbers, wire specification, cable length, identification, routing and required continuity checks.

04

Mechanical & electrical integration

Mount PCBAs and specified modules, fit fasteners and connect internal wiring. Assembly instructions should identify spacing, cable restraint, thermal interfaces and critical fastening requirements.

05

Firmware & functional testing

Program devices and test completed units against an agreed procedure. Provide the firmware revision, programming method, fixtures, operating conditions and measurable pass/fail limits.

06

Labels, packaging & dispatch

Apply approved product labels and pack assemblies to the agreed specification. Confirm identifiers, accessories, protective materials, carton quantities and shipment documentation at quotation.

Environmental, burn-in, electrical safety, compliance or certification testing must be separately specified and reviewed. A functional test confirms the agreed functions; it does not by itself certify the finished product.

BUILT AROUND YOUR PRODUCTION MIX

A practical partner for small batches and multiple variants

Small-to-medium production runs often involve several PCB revisions, different connectors, enclosure variants or firmware configurations. Our one-stop PCBA focus helps keep the board, material and final assembly requirements connected instead of treating them as unrelated purchasing tasks.

Prototype & first build

Identify fit, wiring and test-access issues before committing to a repeat batch. Agree the first-unit review and approval requirements in advance.

Pilot & medium batches

Use an approved build package to move from initial units to repeat production. Quote setup and fixtures separately where applicable so batch costs are understandable.

High-mix programs

Keep each variant tied to its own BOM, drawing set, firmware and label requirements. Confirm changes before the affected units are built.

Tell us the quantity for each variant and your expected repeat demand. Batch size, complexity and material availability are reviewed together; minimum order and delivery requirements are confirmed per project.

ORIGINAL PARTS. INFORMED PURCHASING.

Genuine components, with a competitive BOM strategy

OrinewPCB uses 100% new, original, genuine electronic components. Our close relationships with manufacturers and distributors help us obtain competitive component pricing and practical supply options for one-stop PCB assembly and box build projects.

Specify the exact build

Provide manufacturer names, full part numbers, quantities and approved alternatives. Clearly flag parts that cannot be substituted. If a part is unavailable, any proposed replacement must be reviewed and approved before use.

Review cost and availability together

The lowest quoted unit price is not useful if a critical connector prevents shipment. BOM review considers availability, lead times, packaging quantities and the cost of the complete assembly.

You can also discuss customer-supplied or partially consigned materials. Identify the quantity, condition and arrival date of supplied parts so the build plan reflects the complete kit. If you only need boards or electronic components, include that requirement in your inquiry.

QUALITY BEFORE SHIPMENT

Our nine-checkpoint quality process

Our PCBA quality workflow uses nine checkpoints, from incoming materials through shipment release. The inspection plan is matched to the assembly technology and product requirements; not every inspection technique applies to every board.

  1. IQC · Incoming materialsCheck incoming parts against the approved purchasing and build requirements.
  2. SPI · Solder paste inspectionCheck paste deposition for applicable SMT assemblies before placement.
  3. Online AOIUse optical inspection to identify applicable placement and assembly defects.
  4. SMT first article inspectionVerify the initial assembly against the BOM and assembly documentation.
  5. IPQC · In-process checksMonitor agreed process requirements during production.
  6. Offline AOICarry out applicable optical checks at the planned inspection stage.
  7. X-ray inspection, where applicableAssess hidden solder connections when the package and inspection plan require it.
  8. QC · Manual inspectionReview workmanship and assembly details against the acceptance requirements.
  9. QA · Shipment releaseReview completion of the required checks and release conditions before dispatch.

Board inspection and system testing answer different questions

SPI, AOI and X-ray help assess assembly quality. Finished-product testing checks the functions you specify after enclosure and wiring integration. For box builds, agree the required power-up checks, I/O checks, firmware verification, cable checks and reporting before production. Test coverage, fixtures and acceptance limits belong in the approved build package.

A CLEAR PATH TO RELEASE

How a box build project moves forward

01

Review files & responsibilities

Bring the PCB, BOM, mechanical drawings, harness information and test requirements together. Resolve conflicting revisions and identify missing information.

02

Confirm quotation & schedule

Define material ownership, setup costs, test scope and delivery target. Check critical component and enclosure availability before confirming the production plan.

03

Build, inspect & integrate

Produce the PCBAs and complete the agreed inspection steps. Assemble the enclosure, wiring and associated hardware to the approved instructions.

04

Test, review & dispatch

Load approved firmware where required, run the specified tests, check labels and accessories, and complete the agreed packaging and shipment release.
