NO GERBER FILES YET? A SAMPLE IS A STARTING POINT.

From your sample to a matching LED product

You can provide a physical LED board, module or finished light and ask OrinewPCB to develop and manufacture a corresponding product. We can analyze the sample, create the design, source the materials, assemble the electronics and complete the agreed finished-product scope.

Matching starts with a clear reference: appearance and dimensions, mounting and connectors, electrical behavior, light output, color and operating conditions. We use these requirements to develop a first article for your review. The approved sample and specification then become the reference for production.

01

Understand the reference

Share the sample, intended application, supply voltage and quantity. Identify what must match, including fit, light appearance, controls and any product variants.

02

Design & verify

Develop the board and component solution, review the mechanical and thermal interfaces, and build a first article. Compare it with the reference under agreed test conditions.

03

Approve & reproduce

Confirm the design, materials, lighting measurements and acceptance limits before the batch proceeds. Keep later revisions tied to the approved build package.

Make “the same as the sample” measurable

Tell us whether the critical match is the enclosure fit, connector pinout, brightness, CCT, CRI, dimming response or the complete product. Specifying the tolerances and measurement conditions helps turn a visual reference into a repeatable manufacturing requirement.

ONE-STOP LED ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING

What our LED PCB assembly service includes

LED PCB assembly mounts and solders LEDs, driver components, resistors, connectors and other specified parts onto a printed circuit board. A turnkey LED assembly project also coordinates board fabrication, material purchasing, inspection and testing. Finished lighting products can add wiring, thermal hardware, optics, an enclosure and packaging.

LED product & board design

Develop a manufacturing package from your reference sample or defined requirements. Coordinate LED and driver choices with the board layout, interfaces, mechanical envelope and lighting target.

PCB fabrication

Produce boards to the agreed material stack-up, outline, finish and assembly requirements. Aluminum MCPCB and FR-4 designs are reviewed according to the heat path and electrical layout.

LED & component sourcing

Source new, original LEDs, driver ICs and supporting components against the approved BOM. Include full manufacturer part numbers and specified bin requirements.

SMT & through-hole assembly

Assemble the approved LED and driver circuitry, with checks for placement, polarity, soldering and connector orientation. The manufacturing plan follows the selected packages and board construction.

Module & product integration

Coordinate cables, heat sinks, thermal interfaces, controls and housings when included in the project. Define the delivery boundary as a PCBA, lighting module or finished product.

Test, label & deliver

Use our in-house electrical, optical and burn-in capabilities against the agreed test plan. Confirm test coverage, identification, protective packaging and release criteria before shipment.

For board-only turnkey builds, see full turnkey PCB assembly. For enclosure and final-product integration, see box build assembly. Bare PCBs and electronic components can also be included as separate requirements in your inquiry.

SMALL-TO-MEDIUM BATCHES · MULTIPLE VARIANTS

Keep your lighting variants under control

One product family may use the same board outline with different LEDs, color temperatures, drivers, connectors or firmware. High-mix production needs a clear identity for each version, especially when parts look similar but produce different lighting results.

Prototype & first article

Validate the LED arrangement, electrical operation, mounting fit and optical measurements before releasing a repeat batch.

Pilot & batch production

Build from an approved BOM and drawing revision. Agree setup, fixtures and first-article approval requirements in the quotation.

Variant & repeat orders

Identify each CCT, LED bin, driver setting and label version. Review changes and component availability before the next production release.

Our core strength is small-batch, high-mix PCB assembly. Share quantities for each variant and expected repeat demand so purchasing and assembly can be planned together. Order quantities are confirmed per project.

DEFINE THE LIGHT, THEN DEFINE THE BUILD

LED requirements that matter beyond the footprint

A package description such as 2835, 3030 or 5050 is not a complete LED specification. The selected part also determines electrical ratings, polarity, optical characteristics, handling requirements and the recommended soldering process. For sample-based work, these details become part of the design review.

Brightness & color

Specify board or product luminous flux, CCT, CRI and any required color-consistency limits. Identify whether measurements apply to the bare light engine or to the product with its optics and cover installed.

LED bins & approved parts

Record the full LED part number and required brightness, color or forward-voltage bins where applicable. Define acceptable bin combinations and review proposed alternatives before production.

Supply & driver behavior

Define input voltage, drive current, power budget and operating modes. If dimming or control is required, identify the interface, controller and conditions used for acceptance.

Heat path & mounting

Review the path from the LED package through its solder connection, board and thermal interface to the heat sink or housing. Include mounting pressure, spacing and operating conditions in the design package.

Assembly & handling

Follow the selected LED manufacturer’s footprint, reflow and handling guidance. LED lenses, moisture-sensitive packages and thermal pads require attention during storage, placement and soldering.

Optics & mechanical fit

Define lens or diffuser position, board flatness, mounting holes, cable exit and enclosure clearance. A board that fits electrically still needs to match the finished product mechanically.

Package-specific process guidance remains essential. Examples include ams OSRAM’s LED handling guidance and Cree LED’s discrete LED design guide.

BOARD MATERIAL & THERMAL INTEGRATION

Aluminum LED PCB assembly or FR-4?

Aluminum MCPCB

A metal-core board can provide a useful route for heat to reach the mechanical cooling structure. Review the dielectric system, copper layout, isolation requirements and connection to the heat sink together. A quoted thermal-conductivity value alone does not describe the complete product’s temperature performance.

FR-4 LED boards

FR-4 can suit indicators, control electronics and other LED assemblies when the power and thermal design support it. Copper distribution, thermal vias, board thickness and surrounding mechanical parts affect the resulting heat path.

Send the board outline, LED loading, operating environment and available cooling arrangement. Copper-core, ceramic, flexible or other constructions can be reviewed against the actual design and procurement requirements. Material choice, dimensions and manufacturing limits are confirmed during quotation.

IN-HOUSE LED TEST CAPABILITY

Electrical, optical and burn-in verification

OrinewPCB has its own equipment for LED light-up, electrical, aging/burn-in and optical testing, including luminous flux, color temperature and CRI measurements. We define the test conditions and acceptance limits with you so the results answer your product requirements.

Light-up & electrical checks

Check operation, current and voltage against the approved limits. Include the required supply, driver settings, connectors and operating modes. Specify production coverage and any dimming or control checks.

Optical measurements

Measure agreed lighting characteristics such as luminous flux, CCT and CRI. Define drive current, stabilization conditions, measurement configuration and whether optics or the final housing are included.

Aging / burn-in

Set the test duration, load, temperature or ambient conditions, monitoring requirements and failure criteria in the test plan. Include the cooling arrangement that represents the intended test configuration.

For a sample-based project, compare the reference and first article under consistent conditions. For a production order, agree which checks apply to every unit and which apply to samples or first articles, together with the required record format.

PROCESS QUALITY + PRODUCT PERFORMANCE

Nine quality checkpoints from materials to release

Our nine-checkpoint PCBA workflow supports the LED build from incoming materials through final release. The inspection methods are selected for the actual assembly; LED performance tests are defined alongside the manufacturing checks.

  1. IQC · Incoming materialsCheck materials against the approved BOM, including LED identity and specified bin information.
  2. SPI · Solder paste inspectionCheck applicable SMT paste deposition, including the relevant LED and driver pads.
  3. Online AOIInspect applicable placement and assembly features during production.
  4. SMT first article inspectionReview the initial assembly against the BOM, orientation and assembly drawings.
  5. IPQC · In-process inspectionCheck agreed process requirements as the production batch progresses.
  6. Offline AOIPerform the planned optical checks for the assembly configuration.
  7. X-ray, where applicableReview hidden solder connections or thermal pads when required by the package and inspection plan.
  8. QC · Manual inspectionReview workmanship, wiring and assembly details against the acceptance criteria.
  9. QA · Shipment releaseConfirm required inspection and test completion, identification and packaging before dispatch.

Manufacturing inspection and lighting measurements are complementary. Solder and placement checks support assembly quality; electrical, optical and burn-in tests verify the agreed product behavior.

AUTHENTIC MATERIALS · COMPETITIVE SOURCING

100% new, original LEDs and electronic components

OrinewPCB uses 100% new, original, genuine electronic components. Our close cooperation with manufacturers and distributors helps us obtain competitive material pricing and practical lead times for one-stop LED PCB assembly.

Control the approved BOM

Specify exact manufacturer part numbers, LED bins and permitted alternatives. Proposed changes to an LED, driver or other critical material are reviewed and approved before use.

Plan the complete kit

Review LED and driver availability alongside connectors, boards, housings and thermal hardware. A low price on one item does not determine the cost or delivery date of the finished assembly.

For component-focused information, see our LED components guide. If you supply selected parts, tell us their revision, quantity and arrival date. We can review a consigned or partial-turnkey arrangement and define the remaining sourcing responsibilities in the quotation.

QUESTIONS FROM ENGINEERS & BUYERS

LED PCB assembly FAQ

Can you develop an LED product from my sample?

Yes. OrinewPCB can analyze a physical sample, create the design and manufacture the agreed board or finished product. We establish the features and performance that must match, then use first-article review and testing to confirm the design before batch production.

Can you provide a complete light rather than only an LED board?

Yes. The scope can include the PCBA, driver, wiring, heat sink, optics, housing, testing and packaging. Provide the reference sample or mechanical requirements so the quotation clearly defines the finished deliverable.

Are your LEDs and driver components new and original?

Yes. We use 100% new, original, genuine electronic components. Full part numbers and required LED bins are recorded in the approved build requirements; material changes require approval.

Do you perform LED optical testing in-house?

Yes. We have our own equipment for optical measurements including luminous flux, CCT and CRI, alongside light-up, current/voltage and burn-in testing. The quotation and test plan define the conditions, coverage, acceptance limits and required records.

Should my LED board use aluminum MCPCB or FR-4?

The decision depends on the LED loading, heat path, electrical requirements, available cooling and cost target. Share the reference sample or design so the board and its thermal interface can be reviewed as a system.

Can you build small quantities and multiple color-temperature variants?

Yes. Small-to-medium batches and high-mix PCB assembly are a core focus. List the quantity, BOM, LED bin and other differences for each variant. Order quantity and schedule are confirmed after scope and material review.

Why specify LED bin codes as well as the part number?

A bin can identify a permitted range of optical or electrical characteristics within an LED product family. If color or brightness consistency matters, include the required bins or approved combinations so purchasing and production use the same acceptance basis.

How fast can you deliver an LED assembly order?

We aim for the earliest practical delivery. Timing depends on design readiness, component availability, mechanical parts, approvals, quantity and testing. We confirm a project schedule after reviewing these items.
